Norton’s No-Hitter Paces El Modena Over Santa Ana
Erin Norton pitched a no-hitter with seven strikeouts to lead El Modena past Santa Ana, 4-0, in a first-round game of the Fullerton softball tournament.
The game was called after five innings because of the time limit.
Dustin Vulcan had a double and two runs batted in and Andrea Pastiglione had two hits and an RBI for El Modena (1-0).

La Habra 5, Santa Ana Valley 2--Nikki Shan went three for three with two RBIs and three stolen bases for host La Habra (1-0).
Rosary 7, Garden Grove 1 (6 innings, time limit)--Lauren McIntosh had three hits and Natalie Golda had three RBIs for visiting Rosary (1-0).
Sonora 9, Katella 0 (6 innings, time limit)--Carrie Wisen pitched a no-hitter, striking out five and walking five for host Sonora (1-0). Dawn Ramynke had three RBIs and Andee Lindgren had two to lead the Raiders.
In the Costa Mesa tournament:
Capistrano Valley Christian 6, Estancia 5--Winning pitcher Lauren Capriotti had a home run and three RBIs for visiting Capistrano Valley Christian (1-0).
La Quinta 16, Costa Mesa 4 (5 innings, mercy)--Heidi Foster hit a home run in the first and struck out nine in relief for La Quinta (1-0). Veronica Reyes, who hit a home run, and Lori Rodriguez each had three RBIs for the Aztecs.
Newport Harbor 15, Laguna Beach 3--Newport Harbor shortstop Kristen Smith doubled, tripled and drove in two runs for the Sailors.

Laguna Hills 1, San Clemente 0--Julie Davison singled in the run and Melissa Creeger pitched a three-hitter for Laguna Hills.
Southern California Christian 8, Loma Linda 7 (8 innings)--Delci Huntley went three for four with two doubles and Jesse Loya went three for five and drove in the winning run in the eighth for SCC.
Trabuco Hills 4, Rancho Alamitos 2--Sidney Hensler singled with the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the seventh to win it for Trabuco Hills (1-0).
Westminster 11, Bolsa Grande 0 (6, mercy)--Tina Tusckewicz pitched a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts and Lana Gonzalez had a double and a home run for visiting Westminster (1-0).
In nonleague boys’ volleyball:
Capistrano Valley 3, El Toro 0--Senior outside hitter Kevin Fantz had 20 kills and six aces for Capistrano Valley (2-0), which won 15-12, 15-3, 15-4. Jim Pelzel had 11 kills for El Toro (0-1).
Costa Mesa 3, Santiago 0--B.J. Lightvoet had 13 kills and Mark Nguyen had 25 assists to lead host Costa Mesa to a 15-1, 15-6, 15-0, victory.
Newport Harbor 3, Huntington Beach 0--Zach Wells had nine kills in the 15-6, 15-9, 15-6 victory for Newport Harbor (1-0). Huntington Beach is 1-1.
Edison 3, Laguna Hills 1--Brian Beerbower had 16 kills and seven blocks and Bryce Moulton had 59 assists to lead Edison, which won, 11-15, 15-9, 15-4, 15-7.
