Kings Get Crowns Handed to Them

You heard it here first, King fans. Hall of Famer Larry Robinson is going to be the scapegoat for the team’s lousy performance. Well, when you are given a roster of mediocre to downright inferior talent by your general manager and president, there is no way in hell this team could compete. Last year, Larry should have been given an Oscar for getting this bunch to the playoffs.

There is so much dead meat on this team we could feed all the homeless in the country.

As much as I like Rob Blake, he ain’t going to fill the Staples Center. We are in good bargaining position to get real hard-working players for him as teams jockey for the playoffs.

The fat lady has left the building, the cream is out of the coffee and all the Kings’ horses and all the Kings’ men can’t put this humpty-dumpty team back together again.

Although a new stadium with luxury boxes, a state-of-the-art sound system, and every other bell and whistle imaginable are planned for next fall, King management may want to focus its efforts on trying to put together a competitive team. Apparently that is not a priority.

Not only did the Kings fail to make a deal for Pavel Bure, they also failed to get Theo Fleury. Dave Taylor and Tim Leiweke may think that no changes are needed, but most of the fans probably don’t agree. A new stadium with the same hapless team is simply going to mean more empty seats.

It is obvious to even the pro hockey novice that the Kings are one of the worst teams in the league. Why? Either it is the personnel or the coaching. If it is the personnel, then you have to blame the team of Robinson-Taylor for their poor evaluations and poor decisions. If it is the coaching, then Robinson must be replaced. In either case, you have to have someone in charge who is capable of making sound hockey decisions. Again, the Kings do not have competency at the top and as a result, have become the joke of the league.
