New City National Executive to Lead Bank’s Branch Network

City National Bank said it has hired Kevin Dunigan to head the Beverly Hills-based bank’s network of 40 branches in Southern California. Previously, Dunigan was group sales director of H.F. Ahmanson & Co., where he managed the Southern California retail franchise for Home Savings of America until Ahmanson was acquired last year by Seattle-based Washington Mutual Inc. At City National, Dunigan, 44, takes the title of executive vice president of the core banking division. Before working for Ahmanson, Dunigan held marketing posts at HomeFed Bank and Nestle.

* Karen Glass has been named vice president of Buena Vista Motion Pictures Group, a division of Burbank-based Walt Disney Co. For the last decade, Glass has held a variety of posts at Buena Vista Pictures Distribution & Marketing and has served as vice president of marketing since April 1998. In her new role, she will be involved in developing feature films and finding material for the studio’s various production banners. She will report directly to the group’s co-presidents, Todd Garner and Nina Jacobson.

* Technology consulting firm Business Data Services of Hartford, Conn., has named Roderick A. Smith vice president and West Coast regional manager. Smith has responsibility for sales and recruitment for Los Angeles and Orange counties and will be based at the company’s Long Beach office.

* Highland Bancorp Inc. said that its chief financial officer, Anthony Frey, has left the company effective June 25. His responsibilities will be assumed by Stephen Cooper, controller, and Kelly Andrews, treasurer of the Burbank-based bank holding company that is the parent of Highland Federal Bank. No reason was given for Frey’s departure.

* Allison Berry, a credit executive at Union Bank of California’s commercial portfolio unit, has been promoted to vice president of the Los Angeles-based bank’s commercial banking group. Union Bank is a subsidiary of San Francisco-based UnionBanCal Corp.
