Animated Tarzans
Kenneth Turan mistakenly identified Disney’s “Tarzan” as the first animated Tarzan effort (“Vine, Woman and Song,” June 16). There was an animated television show in the ‘70s called “Tarzan Lord of the Jungle” by Filmation.
Those of us who were kids then can tell you that the animation was 20 times better than Disney’s without the benefit of fancy computers and digital techniques. Plus, Tarzan was an adult and not a snot-nosed, jungle-skateboarding kid--a lot closer to the original Burroughs.
