Community College District Hires San Mateo Educator
The Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees has hired the president of the College of San Mateo for a key position on the district’s management team.
Peter J. Landsberger will fill the new post of interim vice chancellor of human resources, in charge of carrying out a major reform effort begun last year to help put the district’s finances in order.
Landsberger, 52, has been president in San Mateo for seven years.
“I wasn’t seriously considering leaving,” he said. “But when the largest community college [district] in the nation, one that is hugely important to California . . . says we’d like you to join . . . it was too much to turn down.”
Landsberger starts July 6 and will be paid $130,000 a year.
