Free Health Screenings Offered for Children
The West Valley Family YMCA will host its second annual “Healthy Kids Day” Saturday.
Volunteers, including doctors, dentists and a massage therapist, will offer free health screenings for children from toddlers to age 15. Organizers said the event is open to all children in the West Valley from Encino to Calabasas.
Food, music, face-painting and storytelling will be among the activities.
The YMCA’s teen fitness group will feature an obstacle course, games and sports for age-eligible participants.
Representatives from Mothers Against Drunk Drivers and the Los Angeles police and fire departments will also be on hand.
An open swim beginning at 2:30 p.m. will cap off the festivities. Staff will offer water safety tips and swim instruction.
About 500 people attended last year’s event.
