Major League Baseball, MasterCard International and Kmart Corp. said they would stage a promotion that allows baseball fans to vote on an All-Century team.
Terms weren’t disclosed. In July, MasterCard will unveil television commercials inviting fans to select the 25 greatest players of the past century.
Kmart will be the exclusive retail location for fans to cast ballots, but consumers also will be able to vote via the Internet.
MLB Vice President of Marketing Kathleen Francis said the promotion would include television specials broadcast on NBC in conjunction with network coverage of the 1999 World Series.
