Piano Recitals to Honor Chopin
A weeklong symposium noting the 150th anniversary of the death of Frederic Chopin will take place at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Aug. 1-8.
Performing evening recitals in Smothers Theatre will be pianists from the Moscow Conservatory: Natalia Troull (Aug. 3) and Mikhail Voskressensky (Aug. 5). From Poland, Halina Czerny-Stefanska will give a recital Aug. 7. Other members of the symposium faculty will perform on Aug. 1 and student participants will play Aug. 8 at 3 p.m.
Preceding the symposium, Russian pianist Nicolai Petrov, also on the faculty of the Moscow Conservatory, will appear in recital in Zipper Concert Hall at the Colburn School, 200 S. Grand Ave., July 31 at 8 p.m.
