LAGUNA NIGUEL
Laguna Niguel is spending twice as much as usual on its annual July 4 fireworks show. City staff has decided to splurge this year and will spend $16,000. “We just decided to do something a little bit different and special because it’s the city’s 10-year anniversary,” said Jill Durban, the city’s recreation supervisor. The fireworks display is part of an ongoing communitywide celebration commemorating Laguna Niguel’s 1989 incorporation. Festivities began with the Niguel Days Parade in May and will continue with a series of five summer nature walks led by City Council members. The city’s July 4 activities will begin with a free, 6 p.m. concert at Crown Valley Community Park, 29751 Crown Valley Parkway. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m. at the Laguna Niguel Regional Park, 28241 La Paz Road. Free.
