Larry W. Castleberry; 38-Year County Resident
Larry Wayne Castleberry, a Ventura County resident for the past 38 years, died Monday of diabetes. He was 50.
Castleberry was born June 18, 1948, in Burbank. In 1966, he graduated from Fillmore High School, where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He also attended Ventura College.
Castleberry worked for the Fillmore police in high school and until 1967, when he was injured in an auto accident on his way to Ventura College. At the time of his death, he was a self-employed environmental engineer.
Castleberry was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Fillmore.
“He loved to barbecue,” said his mother, Edna. She said her son was a scuba diver who enjoyed boating on the ocean.
In addition to his parents, Edna and Marvin Castleberry of Ventura, he is survived by two sons, Jason and Joey of Reno, Nev.; a daughter, Larissa Cayer of Reno; two brothers, Buster of Bakersfield and Bruce of Ventura; and two grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Castleberry’s name to the American Diabetes Assn.
Services and burial are private. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura.
