* 30th annual Southern California Special Olympics--Competition in aquatics, track and field, above, basketball, bocce ball, golf, gymnastics and tennis will be held this weekend at Cal State Long Beach.

* Storytime for Children--Naturalist Connie Douglas and her kestrel will make an appearance Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mrs. Nelson’s Toy and Book Shop in La Verne.

* Plant Walk--The California Native Plant Society will sponsor a talk and walk Sunday starting at 9 a.m. in Eaton Canyon Nature Center in Pasadena.
