4.3 Earthquake Shakes Rural Area

A magnitude 4.3 earthquake and 3.6 aftershock shook rural southeastern California on Thursday, but no damage or injuries were reported. The larger temblor struck at 7:08 p.m. and was centered in Imperial County, 16 miles southwest of Ocotillo, said Sue Hough, a U.S. Geological Survey seismologist. The second quake hit at 7:22, about 14 miles southwest of Ocotillo, she said.
