Bodger Is in No Rush to Battle With Drake

No, Doug Bodger said, he won’t be looking for trouble tonight at Phoenix.

Then again, he wasn’t looking the last time the Kings played there, and trouble found him.

For one thing, the Coyotes’ Dallas Drake, who nailed Bodger from behind in a rough game won by the Kings, 4-2, on Dec. 28, won’t be on the ice because of an injury.

For another, “I’ve got to think about winning the game,” said Bodger, who as late as a week ago still suffered headaches he believes were related to that incident. “We need wins. You’ve got to put your personal hatred behind you.”

Well, he added, hatred might be a bit strong, “but I’m still unhappy about what happened.”

Several of the protagonists will be there tonight, among them Jeremy Roenick, whom Bodger checked a few minutes before Drake decided to get even. And Roenick is no stranger to hitting.

“I can’t look around for anybody,” Bodger said. “I’ve got to think about where the next play is going to be, where the next forecheck is.”

Goalie Stephane Fiset went through a complete practice Tuesday without incident and has been cleared to play, though Jamie Storr will probably start in goal tonight.
