Too Drunk to Drive? Call Auto Club

The Automobile Club of Southern California is offering free rides home for New Year’s Eve revelers who have had too much to drink. The rides, available from 6 tonight until 6 a.m. New Year’s Day, are offered only to drinking drivers. Their vehicles will be towed with them.

The service is provided in an effort to “help keep New Year’s Eve safe for all motorists,” according to the Auto Club.

The free tow is good for up to seven miles only to the driver’s residence and is a one-time, one-way offer. Membership in AAA is not required. After seven miles, the driver must pay the going rate charged for tows.
