The best piece of advice Orange County Sheriff’s Lt. Paul Ratchford can give this New Year’s Eve is summed up in two words: “Stay home.”
Ratchford, who serves as Dana Point’s chief of police, said residents can ensure a trouble-free New Year’s Eve by ringing in the year 2000 from the safety of their homes.
With so many law enforcement officers patrolling the streets and highways tonight, Ratchford said he expects the number of drunk driving arrests to skyrocket.
