For Starters, They All Have to Do Well
A third of USC’s basketball season has passed. And if it wasn’t clear to the Trojan starters, it’s clear now. If David Bluthenthal, Sam Clancy, Brandon Granville, Brian Scalabrine and Jeff Trepagnier collectively play well, the Trojans (5-5) usually win. If two or three are off, USC probably won’t win.
“The guys we have to depend on have to have good games every night,” Coach Henry Bibby said. “We can’t have a couple guys playing well and the others not.”
The USC starters shot 40.3% and made only 13 of 21 free throws in a 76-66 loss to Long Beach State Thursday, statistics which were magnified by the Trojan reserves contributing only two points.
