ORANGE
As of Thursday evening, no one has challenged the three incumbent members of the Orange Unified School District seeking reelection: Maureen Aschoff, Bill Lewis and Robert H. Viviano. School board records show that this could be the first time in at least 10 years that more than one incumbent will run unopposed. The board has seven members who serve four-year terms.
All persons wishing to run for seats on the school board must file with the Orange County registrar of voters by 5 p.m. today.
The district is currently embroiled in two major issues: negotiations over teacher contracts with the Orange Unified Education Assn., which are currently at an impasse; and a lawsuit filed by the Serrano Water District.
