MTA Judgment
You report (April 9) a $5.7-million award to an MTA employee who was claiming discrimination. Most of the money was for “pain and suffering.” Suits against the government should be limited to compensation for actual financial damages. Otherwise, every taxpayer is entitled to be paid for pain and suffering, especially when we read about idiotic awards like this one.
