TUSTIN
More than 110 Tustin Ranch Elementary second-graders will donate $320 from a penny drive to the local chapter of the American Cetacean Society on Wednesday. The funds will help protect “our local whale population and sea life,” said Danette Ingram, the Tustin Ranch teacher who coordinated the project.
Since January, the students have saved pennies and studied about whales. Each student also wrote an in-depth research paper on whales and went whale watching.
