Applications Due for Grand Jury
The deadline for submitting an application to serve on the 1999-2000 Ventura County Grand Jury is Friday.
The grand jury investigates management of various departments and districts of county and city government, takes part in fiscal or management audits and prepares reports on related matters. The panel is also responsible for inquiring into criminal offenses at the request of the district attorney.
Six applicants from each of Ventura County’s five supervisorial districts will be selected for a pool of 30. During a lottery in July, 19 members will be selected to sit on the next grand jury. The remaining 11 candidates will serve as alternates.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, age 18 or older, of sound judgment and good character. They must have lived in Ventura County for at least one year and have never been convicted of a felony or malfeasance in office.
In selecting the jurors, efforts are made to include various demographic groups represented in the county.
To obtain an application, contact Jury Services at 654-5025 during regular business hours.
