* Record vs. Clash (1998)--3-1.

* Update--The Galaxy has scored only one goal in 180 minutes of play. Its shootout victories over Colorado and Dallas have been marked by disorganized play in the midfield and poor finishing up front. Only the defense, and especially goalkeeper Kevin Hartman and defenders Greg Vanney and Steve Jolley, has been sound. Jose Vasquez was waived this week to bring the roster to the league limit of 20. He had played in 28 games over three seasons. Robin Fraser, the team captain, will miss tonight’s game after undergoing knee surgery on Monday. The Clash lost its opener, 3-1, to the MLS champion Chicago Fire, but rebounded last week, coming back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Colorado Clash, 3-2, in a shootout. Defender Mauricio Wright arrived from Costa Rica Thursday and might play tonight, according to Coach Brian Quinn. Former U.S. Olympic player Dario Brose, who played in the opener and then returned to Germany last week to retrieve his family, could make his first start tonight. Striker Eric Wynalda, whose wife Amy gave birth to their first child, daughter Brooke Irelynd, on Monday, is out until at least September after injuring his left knee while playing in the Mexican league.
