Ensenada Massacre
The executions in Ensenada as reported in the Sept. 18 Times were obscene enough, but did you have to splatter--if you’ll pardon the expression--a color picture of the blood-soaked patio on the front page to go along with it? “This is something truly despicable. It’s something that has to shock us,” said Jose Luis Chavez Garcia, the top federal prosecutor for the region. I think that quote not only obviously sums up the crime, but also your choice of photos.

Mexico in the 1990s is like Chicago in the 1920s, for the same reason--prohibition of an illegal substance. A massacre has now occurred perilously close to our borders. The only thing that will stop the killing is ending the prohibition of drugs.
