Hart Hits Road, Ends Up With 5-0 Victory at Home
La Canada and Hart highs got off to a late start in a nonleague girls’ tennis match Tuesday because of a scheduling mix-up that caused the Indians to drive to La Canada and back to Hart, where the match was finally played.
That extra time on the bus didn’t seem to bother the Indians, who came away with a 5-0 victory shortened by darkness.
Instead of the normal round-robin, three singles players from each school and three doubles teams all played one match. The final singles match was halted by darkness.
The No. 1 team of Penny Letts and Catherine Pucci led a doubles sweep by the Indians (2-2).
Harvard-Westlake 17, Notre Dame 1--Freshman Jessica Leck dropped only one game at No. 1 singles in sweeping three sets for the Wolverines (4-0) in a Mission League match at Studio City Golf and Tennis.
No. 2 player Chelsea Dillon and No. 3 Katelyn Rader also won three sets as Harvard-Westlake swept singles play.
Louisville 15, Lakewood St. Joseph 3--Senior Lisa Moverley swept at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-2, 6-0, for the Royals (3-2) in a Mission League victory at Calabasas Tennis and Swim Club.
