Irvine’s First-Half Outburst Proves Too Much for Corona del Mar
Sean Moussa-Zahab scored two of Irvine’s four first-half touchdowns to lead the Vaqueros to a 28-14 Sea View League victory Friday at Newport Harbor High.
Moussa-Zahab scored on 16- and 11-yard passes from Sean Van de Merghel in the first and second quarters.
Sam Paik and Tyler Wright added touchdowns for Irvine (6-1-1, 2-0-1) in the second quarter. Van de Merghel threw three touchdown passes and completed 11 of 16 for 138 yards.
Nate Lemmerman scored for Corona del Mar on a 41-yard run in the third quarter, and Seth Richardson returned an interception 23 yards. Lemmerman gained 62 yards in 12 carries to lead Corona del Mar (5-3, 1-2).
