ORANGE
The Walking Shield American Indian Society is collecting school supplies, clothing and other gifts for Native American children across the country this year.
The Orange-based nonprofit is beginning its 12th annual holiday gift drive, which last year brought Christmas gifts to 35,000 children living on reservations.
After all of the new toys or gifts are gathered, the group’s volunteers will drive hundreds of miles to deliver the presents. Gifts are collected for children from ages 1 to 18. Families also may be “adopted” by groups or individuals for the holidays.
Bring new, unwrapped gifts to the office at 628 N. Eckhoff St. Information: (714) 634-9583.
