Fire Destroys Warehouse in Placentia
An intense fire destroyed a Placentia warehouse Wednesday and threatened nearby buildings in an industrial area of the city before the main blaze was extinguished, officials said.
There were no injuries, said Capt. Scott Brown, spokesman for the Orange County Fire Authority.
The fire was reported about 5:20 p.m. at Residential Design Services, a single-story warehouse.
Because the flames were so intense, firefighters had to spray water from elevated platforms, Brown said. The main part of the fire was put out in about an hour.
Rolls of carpet were stored in the warehouse. “The carpet itself can be a real contributor, all rolled up,” Brown said. “It burns pretty intense.”
The cause had not been determined, but investigators believe the blaze began in an area inside the warehouse where a vehicle was parked, Brown said.
