With a well-executed Double Dutch or two, students at Lincoln Elementary School raised $3,400 to help fight heart disease last week. The school’s second annual “Jump Rope for Heart” program involved the school’s first through sixth grades--nearly 800 children--jumping rope in shifts after soliciting donations for the American Heart Assn. The students exceeded last year’s total of $3,000, and learned how exercise can help fight heart disease, said Carol Jahan, the physical education teacher who has organized the event both years.
