There’s still time to get a flu shot, the best defense against influenza, which can cause deadly complications for the elderly, chronically ill and those with suppressed immune systems.

Some doctors are now suggesting that school-age children receive the vaccine to help control the spread of flu.

Los Angeles County Department of Health Services offers free flu shots for people 60 or older and those with chronic heart, lung or kidney disease or certain other chronic conditions.

Vaccines are given throughout the San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys. Two Los Angeles County hotlines are available to provide information about free flu shot clinics: (800) 427-8700 or (800) 339-6993.
