Pit Bulls and Attacks
Re “Boy Bitten by Pit Bull Is Released From Hospital,” March 23.
As a pit bull owner, the account of the recent and deplorable pit bull attack in Pacoima was of particular concern. I had the notion to inquire further with Animal Control in North Hollywood and was told by a officer that nearly the same kind of attack happened the day before with a chow, although newspapers did not cover it.
Our problem with dogs attacking people isn’t with pit bulls. It’s with the chows and German shepherds, and often cocker spaniels, but the media focuses on pit bulls.
It’s certainly no favor for us responsible owners of these very affectionate and loyal Velcro dogs when they are abused by thugs, negligent owners and hype editors.
