Alemany Coach Park Resigns
Alemany boys’ basketball Coach Jin Park has resigned after one season.
The Indians were 2-20 this season, 1-11 in Mission League play.
The school has begun a search for a replacement.

Anita Ortega, who played for UCLA’s NCAA championship women’s basketball team in 1978, will be the featured speaker at today’s Times Basketball Awards Brunch at the Warner Center Hilton in Woodland Hills.
Ortega, a basketball official and lieutenant in the LAPD, will address All-Valley and All-Ventura County boys’ and girls’ basketball players at the 9 a.m. brunch.

Rod Mendoza, who coached the St. Bonaventure High girls’ team to a 64-7-8 record the past three seasons, has resigned to spend more time with his family and at his job.
Mendoza, a Ventura County sheriff, led the Seraphs to three Tri-Valley League titles and a share of this season’s Southern Section Division IV title.

Chaminade High girls’ Coach Mike Evans said Lauren Nussbaum, a freshman on the boys’ team at Milken Community who earned All-Liberty League honors, will attend Chaminade.

Players are needed for the West Valley Youth soccer club’s under-11 girls’ team. Tryouts will be held Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Hale Junior High in Woodland Hills.
