Take Rupert Out to the Ballgame
Open letter to Rupert Murdoch:
As a Dodger fan, I’d like to invite you out to the stadium to watch a game or two. I know you have had no experience with the game, and I would like you to learn what Dodger fans love about a day at the ballpark.
I know you could sit up in the owner’s box in luxury, but it would be a better experience to come incognito and sit down with the fans. Wear a Dodger T-shirt and cap and I’ll bet no one would recognize you. Buy a Dodger dog (sort of a foot-long banger) and a beer. Try to sit in Roger’s section so you can catch your bag of peanuts. Bring a radio, set to Vin Scully.
I think you will forget all the worries and stress of your business world and become more relaxed and happy.
In short, Mr. Murdoch, please try it. You may find you’ll like it, and we fans would love to have an owner who really cares about the game.

What to look forward to at Dodger Stadium in ‘98:
* Bill Russell will “play the percentages” and put in Wayne Kirby (is he still on the team?) to pinch-hit for Piazza.
* Hideo Nomo will not speak a word.
* Retired or not, Todd Worrell will still blow saves.
* Hungry or not, I will never buy a Cool-A-Coo.
* That video clip of the cat biting the groundskeeper will be shown on DiamondVision for the 17th consecutive year.
* Rick Monday will confuse everyone.
* I will watch someone in the stands pay $3.75 for colored ice.
