School Board to Start Seeking New Trustee
The Newport-Mesa Unified School District begins its search next week to succeed Trustee Edward H. Decker, whose last meeting was Tuesday.
Decker was in the second year of his second term on the board, but he resigned to pursue the job of district superintendent. Former Supt. Mac Bernd left the job in December to take a similar post in Arlington, Texas.
The board has scheduled meetings Wednesday and Thursday to interview candidates. Trustees said they hope to appoint Decker’s successor soon, allowing that person to participate in the superintendent search.
The search committee expects to begin candidate interviews in May.
