* Graham Morris, chief executive of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd., resigned just two days after German auto rivals BMW and Volkswagen signed a deal to carve up the legendary British luxury car maker, an industry source familiar with the situation said. Morris decided to leave after it became clear that the Rolls-Royce automobiles will no longer be made at the company’s factory in Crewe, England, the source said. An announcement of Morris’ departure is expected from the company this morning.

* UAL Corp.’s United Airlines will buy 22 Airbus Industrie jets worth up to $1.05 billion, completing a plan to build up the airline’s fleet and giving the European aircraft maker another victory over Boeing Co. The 12 Airbus A320s and 10 A319s, which seat 125 to 150 passengers, are scheduled for delivery in 2000 and 2001.
