A magnitude 4.7 earthquake rattled the California-Nevada border Wednesday, but there were no reports of injuries or damage.

The tremor struck at 8:39 p.m. and was centered 58 miles southeast of Bishop, said Egill Hauksson, a seismologist for Caltech in Pasadena. The quake was not an aftershock, he said.

A dispatcher for the Inyo County Sheriff’s Department said he has received no reports of damage or injuries.
