Principals and the district superintendent’s office are determining which modernization projects should be given priority at four campuses. Brea Junior High School and Arovista, Laurel and Mariposa elementary schools, all more than 30 years old, qualified this year for $6 million in state funds. Because that money is part of an 80%-20% matching grant, the district must come up with 20% of the money.

Among the planned improvements are new electrical wiring, intercoms, better playground equipment, new windows, alarm systems and new plumbing. The district expects to submit its plan for state approval within six months.
