We Want the BamCam

You’ve heard of all the Internet camera sites where you can see supposed scenes of real life. The most famous is JenniCam, which offers the delights of stalking and peeping-Tomism without all the work. There are also a couple of foodcams.

For instance, https://electrolux.se/house/kitchen/fridge/real--fridge--cam shows humorous, if pretty obviously posed, shots of people opening a refrigerator in Stockholm, as seen from inside the fridge. Some of the other fridgecams on the Net are a joke, though; the screen is always black (since the door is closed, see?).

And then there’s the ClamCam. At https://pacreal.com/clamcam.html, you get images from a camera set up in a corner of a surf-side restaurant in Long Beach, Wash. Where are the clams? Somewhere out there--the camera’s aimed at a stretch of beach where people often dig for razor clams in spring and fall. The image is updated every 60 seconds, but at the camera’s distance, a clam would have to be about 20 feet long to be visible.

When are we going to get some more dramatic Web foodcams? Like a boiling pot of French fries a-frying or maybe Emeril Legasse’s greatest “bams”?
