Councilman Joel Wachs and LAPD Capt. Rick Wahler will speak at a meeting of the Valley Village Homeowners Assn. tonight at 7:30 at Colfax Elementary School.

Wachs, who represents the area, will answer questions about issues facing Valley Village residents, including the Burbank Airport expansion, a community arts festival scheduled in the NoHo district on June 13-14 and a bill by state Sen. Herschel Rosenthal (D-Los Angeles) dealing with the state classification of billboards.

Wahler will deliver a report on the latest crime statistics and safety issues. Along with the guest speakers, several association committees will report on their work.

The landscape committee will update members on the construction of a playground in Westpark at the corner of Hesby Street and Westpark Drive. Concrete for sidewalks has been poured and playground equipment is set to be installed soon.

The sound wall committee will also offer a report on the construction of sound walls on the Chandler Boulevard median near the Hollywood Freeway, an issue the association has watched closely since the Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced its plans to construct the walls as part of the North Hollywood Red Line subway project.

The school is at 11724 Addison St. For more information on the association and the meeting, contact association president Lori Dinkin at (818) 763-4883.
