Montclair Prep Sets Section, State Mark
The 54 runs scored by Montclair Prep’s baseball team Tuesday against Pilgrim was a Southern Section and state record.
The old Southern Section record of 45 runs was established by Whittier against Garden Grove in 1922. The state record was held by San Diego Parker, which scored 53 runs against Escondido Calvin Christian in 1985.
The Mounties’ 54-1 victory was accomplished in four innings.
