Goaltending a Concern
Coach Larry Robinson said that he’s not worried about goaltender Stephane Fiset’s recent problems--33 goals given up in his last nine starts--because of the Kings’ overall defensive breakdowns but he did admit that backup Jamie Storr could be an option in the playoffs.
“It’s possible because I don’t know if [the Blues] have seen Jamie,” Robinson said. “This isn’t the time of year to play favorites. You do whatever is possible to win hockey games. If it means switching things around a little bit, so be it. You have to pull out all straws. It is not a season that is 82 games long. It is a short seven-game series.”

Captain Rob Blake was voted as season most valuable player and the top defenseman for the Kings by the local media, with center Jozef Stumpel being named the best newcomer and forward Ian Laperriere as the team’s best defensive player. Blake was also voted by his teammates as their most inspirational player and defenseman Mattias Norstrom as unsung hero.
The Kings Care Foundation voted left wing Luc Robitaille for the community service award and the Kings’ booster club named Blake as fan favorite.
