Missing Man Formation
Antelope Valley High’s recent outbreak of backfield injuries has had Coach Brent Newcomb thinking this week about what might have been.
The Antelopes, who play host to Palmdale tonight in a pivotal Golden League game, are expected to be without running backs Bruce Molock and Nakia Manick, who have sprained ankles.
They also will be missing Jermaine Marshall.
A sophomore at Kilpatrick, a youth detention camp, Marshall was arguably the most impressive backfield prospect at Antelope Valley last year.
“Considering our current situation, I don’t think it would be asking too much if they released him for just two or three weeks,” Newcomb joked.
Marshall is one of the area’s leading rushers this season, gaining 930 yards in only 98 carries for Kilpatrick, which plays Montclair Prep tonight.
