4th of July ’98 Event Plans Set
Plans for the city’s 1998 Fourth of July Spectacular already are underway.
The City Council this week set aside $8,500 for the 11th annual event at the Los Alamitos Armed Forces Reserve Center. The council also committed $3,500 worth of staffing.
Neighboring Cypress and Rossmoor may chip in some or all of the difference for the $28,000 show, as they have done in the past, officials said.
“Each city will handle it as they see fit,” Mayor Alice B. Jempsa said.
Corporate sponsorship also is a possibility, she said.
About 26,000 people--20,000 at the base and 6,000 on the perimeter--watched the display of military vehicles and fireworks last year.
