Fast Fingers: Expect some fireworks next week...
Fast Fingers: Expect some fireworks next week at the Jazz Bakery when Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba and bassist Brian Bromberg get together for a week of musical action. Both are noted for their uncommon virtuosity and rapid-fire technique. But both are also capable of tempering their speed with more thoughtful, musically pensive excursions. It is hoped that the pair--with drummer Ignacio Berroa anchoring the rhythm--will choose to explore the full range of their probing musical imaginations. If so, it will be worth a trip to the Bakery for a week of rare, world-class jazz.
