Police Mobile Unit Will Visit Area Sites

The Camarillo Police Department’s mobile storefront will travel to several locations through December as part of the department’s ongoing effort to inform the community about crime prevention.

Officers will provide fingerprinting services for children and register bicycles.

Camarillo requires that all bicycles be registered, because police say it assists them in locating stolen ones. There is a $5 fee for registration and a $3 fee for license renewal.

Members of the Camarillo Citizens Patrol, who recently received their own department uniforms and will soon receive their own cars, will provide information about how to join Camarillo’s various volunteer programs that assist local law enforcement.

Teens can find out from the Law Enforcement Explorers which programs they can join.

McGruff the Crime Dog will also be on hand to discuss crime with children.

The mobile storefront will be open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the following locations:

* Today at Central Plaza at Arneill Road and Ponderosa Drive.

* Nov. 8 at Mission Oaks Plaza at Woodcreek and Santa Rosa roads.

* Nov. 22 at Ponderosa Plaza at Arneill Road and Barry Street.

* Dec. 6 at Pleasant Valley Park at Temple Avenue and Ponderosa Road.

* Dec. 20 at Camarillo Towne Center at Ventura Boulevard and Las Posas Road.
