Ice Dogs Fall to Thunder in Shootout
The Las Vegas Thunder earned its first victory over the Ice Dogs in six tries this season with a 2-1 shootout victory Saturday night at Las Vegas.
The Thunder was four of five in the shootout and the Ice Dogs were three of five.
Steve Bancroft, a former Ice Dog, broke a scoreless tie at 11:19 of the third period, beating goalie Jamie Storr on the glove side with a shot from the blue line.
Winger Vitali Yachmenev, on loan from the Kings, tied the score with 2:37 remaining by knocking in Victor Ignatjev’s rebound on the stick side of goalie Tim Chevelade.
The Ice Dogs (16-9-2) remain in first place in the Southwest Division. The team also announced that assistant coach Mark Hardy, 38, who was added to the roster for a three-game tryout on Nov. 21, will remain with the Ice Dogs for a 25-game tryout.
