Smith Helps Columbus Extend Winning Streak
Katie Smith matched her career high with 26 points and helped Columbus extend its winning streak to seven games with an 83-65 victory over the Colorado Xplosion before 4,324 Saturday at Denver.
Shannon Johnson added 19 points for Columbus (12-3), which also got 16 points and 10 rebounds from Valerie Still.
Crystal Robinson scored a team-high 23 points for Colorado (8-9). Tari Phillips added 18 points and 12 rebounds. Vicki Hall had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Colorado took a 20-7 lead and held a 22-13 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
The Quest rallied and took a 42-41 lead in the closing seconds of the first half on a three-point play by Smith.
San Jose 87, Seattle 63--The Lasers took a 15-0 lead and cruised to the victory before 7,391 at San Jose. Charlotte Smith had 10 of her season-high 26 points in the first quarter.
The Reign was scoreless until Val Whiting hit a jumper late in the quarter.
A jump shot by Sheri Sam with 7:44 left in the second quarter sparked a 12-5 run by the Lasers that gave San Jose a comfortable lead. The Lasers led by as many as 28 points in the fourth quarter.
