* Robert C. Fish; Retired Planner for Gas Company
Robert Coleman Fish of Ventura, a retired utility company planner, died Thursday at a hospital after a brief illness. He was 65.
He was born June 14, 1932, in Los Angeles and grew up in Santa Paula and Moorpark, graduating from Moorpark High School in 1950. He attended Loyola University.
Fish joined the Army and was stationed in Panama and Santiago, Chile, with the Army Advisory Group.
He and his wife, Nancy, were married in Santiago on April 14, 1956. Fish left the Army as a sergeant.
Fish attended UCLA and received a bachelor’s degree in art history in 1959.
After graduation, he settled in Ventura and started working for Southern California Gas Co., retiring in 1995 as a senior planner after 35 years of service.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, where he served as an usher, and he belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the National Rifle Assn. Fish enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife; four sons, Tom and Luis of Ventura, Robert Jr. of Folsom and Richard of Van Nuys; and eight grandchildren.
Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Ventura. A private inurnment will take place at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Assn. of Ventura County, 2500 E. Las Posas Road, Camarillo 93010, or to a favorite charity.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
