Ynez Davie; Descendant of Land Grant Recipient
Ynez Davie, 91, a sixth-generation Californian and descendant of Antonia Del Valle, who received the original San Francisquito land grant of more than 200,000 acres from the Spanish crown in what is now Los Angeles and Ventura counties. She was raised on Rancho Camulos, near Newhall, the setting for Helen Hunt Jackson’s epic pageant “Ramona.” As a young woman, she taught Spanish and Mexican dance. On Saturday at Astoria Convalescent Hospital in Sylmar.
