Investigators Seek Cause of Factory Fire
A fire at a Newbury Park factory early Saturday caused about $27,000 in damage, authorities said.
A worker at Performance Materials, in the 700 block of Lawrence Drive, reported the fire about 7:30 a.m., county fire officials said. The blaze began in a drying oven and caused about $5,000 in damage to the factory. It consumed about $22,000 worth of materials used at the factory to make rubber soles for athletic shoes, officials said. Firefighters had the blaze under control by about 7:45 a.m.
No injuries were reported. Investigators were working Saturday to determine the fire’s cause.
