LAKERS TONIGHT
Opponent--Vancouver Grizzlies.
Site--GM Place, Vancouver, Canada.
Time--7.
TV--Channel 9.
Radio--KLAC (570).
Records--Lakers 47-23, Grizzlies 12-60.
Record vs. Grizzlies--3-0.
Laker update--The second night of back-to-back sets was once a glaring problem, with a 0-5 start to the season in such games, but the Lakers have won in eight of their last 11 tries. “We’ve done a good job,” Coach Del Harris said. “Everyone made a big deal when we struggled early in the year, but I don’t see anybody saying anything now.” The Lakers return home tonight, have four days off in one schedule quirk and then, in another, turn around and play at Seattle on Tuesday and at home against Denver on Wednesday.
Grizzly update--Not only are they the worst team in the league, but the Grizzlies need to finish 3-7 simply to equal last season’s record, when they were a first-year team. That doesn’t figure to happen. So the two important upcoming items are the draft--Vancouver and Toronto are still excluded from getting the No. 1 pick--and the move to sign Bryant Reeves to an extension before he becomes a free agent after next season.
