Douglass Named Irvine Coach
Pat Douglass, who won three NCAA Division II national titles in the last five seasons at Cal State Bakersfield, was hired as UC Irvine’s coach.
Douglass, 47, received a five-year contract to take over a team that finished 1-25 under Rod Baker last season. Baker’s contract was not renewed at the end of the season.
Douglass was 257-61 in 10 seasons at Bakersfield. His teams won national titles in 1993, ’94 and this season. He was also coach at Eastern Montana, where he had a 119-57 record in six seasons.
